A symposium was held in Beijing to commemorate the 60th anniversary of special equipment safety supervision and the 2nd anniversary of the promulgation of the Special Equipment Safety Law

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the implementation of safety supervision for special equipment in New China, and on June 29th, it will also celebrate the second anniversary of the promulgation of the Special Equipment Safety Law. On the afternoon of June 25th, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine organized a symposium to commemorate the 60th anniversary of special equipment safety supervision and the second anniversary of the promulgation of the Special Equipment Safety Law. Chen Gang, Deputy Director and Party member of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Liu Pingping, former deputy director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and Zhang Gang, counselor of the State Council, attended the meeting.

Chen Gang fully affirmed the achievements made in the institutional foundation, legal guarantee, and working mechanism of special equipment safety and energy conservation. He pointed out that the special equipment industry has always adhered to serving the needs of national economic and social development, and has always insisted on innovative development. Over the past 60 years, it has accumulated rich experience and hopes that the entire industry can continue to uphold and carry forward these experiences.

Chen Gang proposed that the safety and energy conservation of special equipment are currently in a critical period of reform and development. In the new normal, focusing on "building a moderately prosperous society in all respects", we must not only strictly abide by the safety bottom line of special equipment, but also actively serve the overall economic development, take the initiative to promote safe, economical, sustainable, and high-quality development. The entire industry should take the comprehensive implementation of the Special Equipment Safety Law as an opportunity to comprehensively promote the rule of law in special equipment and improve the special equipment safety supervision system. In the face of reform, the special equipment front should comprehensively apply strategic thinking and systematic thinking, strengthen strategic research and top-level design, comprehensively deepen reform, and promote innovation in special equipment work. At the same time, efforts should be made to increase talent cultivation, produce more talents, and produce high-level talents, laying a talent foundation for the development of the special equipment industry. He hopes that all cadres and workers in the special equipment front will take the 60th anniversary as a new starting point, shoulder the glorious mission entrusted by the times, continue to carry forward excellent traditions, constantly create new situations in special equipment work, and make new contributions to achieving economic quality improvement, efficiency enhancement and upgrading.

At the symposium, Song Jihong, Director of the Special Equipment Bureau of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, gave a speech titled "Reviewing History, Looking Forward to the Future, and Wishing for the Safety of Special Equipment to Achieve Further Brilliance". Other attending representatives also shared their thoughts and feelings. Everyone reviewed the ups and downs and storms that special equipment safety supervision has experienced over the past 60 years, fully affirmed the promotion and implementation of the Special Equipment Safety Law, listed the glorious achievements of special equipment safety supervision, and had extensive and in-depth discussions on the new problems encountered in reform and innovation.

The venue also displayed a "60th Anniversary of Special Equipment Safety Supervision" exhibition board, showcasing inscriptions or instructions from Party and state leaders on the cause of special equipment safety supervision, as well as historical documents, pictures, books, and major scientific research or work achievements.

More than 60 people participated in the symposium, including leaders of the National People's Congress who promoted and participated in the formulation of the Special Equipment Safety Law, representatives of relevant departments who have long been concerned about and promoted the development of special equipment safety supervision, retired leaders of the special equipment safety supervision and inspection front, members of the Special Equipment Safety and Energy Saving Technology Committee, some large central enterprises, relevant industry associations, as well as representatives of relevant departments of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and local quality supervision departments.

On the morning of the 25th, the Special Equipment Safety and Energy Conservation Technical Committee of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine also organized a meeting for all members and a general election. The meeting summarized the work of the fourth committee, read out the list of the fifth committee, and reviewed and voted on the amendment to the articles of association. Appointment letters were issued to the members of the fifth committee. In his speech, Liu Pingping, Chairman of the Fourth Committee, fully recognized the contributions made by the Committee in promoting the legislation of the Special Equipment Safety Law, improving the regulatory and standard system for special equipment, actively participating in the investigation and analysis of difficult and major accidents, and other aspects. Chen Gang, Chairman of the Fifth Committee, hopes that the new committee will continue to strengthen technical support, enhance macro strategic research, strengthen communication and coordination, and strive to make greater contributions to the development of the special equipment industry. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Gang, Executive Vice Chairman of the Fourth Committee.
